Quotes and Cookies: Courage to Begin

I wrote a post a couple of days ago about how you knew when you had the guts to be a writer. I was surprised how many people were unsure if they did have the guts! Because do you know what? I THINK YOU DO. Even if you haven't realized it yet, you do. How do I know? Because you ARE doing it! You're showing you have the guts to do this with every single thing you do.

"If you could get up the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed."

~David Viscott

See? You've already mustered that courage! All you have to do now is follow through. Piece of cake, right? Or... you know... piece of cookie. Hey! Speaking of cookies-- let's have one! We can celebrate having all that courage and all.

Happy 11/11/11, everyone! Have a FABULOUS weekend!

P.S. If you don't already own DIVERGENT (and you totally should), scroll down just a bit and enter in the giveaway!

I read Divergent...SO GOOD!

Also I was looking at your sidebar and saw the Nanorevmo. I had no idea they did that. Thats exactly what I'm doing and it just so happens my deadline is the ond of Nov so I will have to check this out.

Very True- and so yummy!

Now you come to mention it, I'm the only person I (physically) know who writes. A lot of them say they would love to, but never do. I guess they kind of fall under this.

(I would ebter your comp, but the postage would be prohibitive :o) )

My sister in law keeps asking to read my WIP. She has a very strong personality and perhaps no filter. I'm at the point where I'm almost ready for her to read it - like maybe next week. When I'm there, it will be time to start sending out queries. :)

I have shipped my ms to a reader - and I'm going to print it out and give it to my wife. If I can do that, then I guess I must have the necessary guts.

And I want those cookies.

Very good quote. I almost licked my screen - that's some warm chocolate.

I'm salivating over that cookie. And I think you're right about courage--we often underestimate our own greatness.

Love that quote :) Beginning is always hard.

I wish looking at pictures of cookies was just as satisfying as eating them, but alas....

Just finished breakfast, and now I'm dieing for a cookie. Will have to scrounge something up for lunch.

Great quote.

Excellent post. Thanks for the encouragement and for your nice comment on our blog. I'm so glad you've had a Requestion as well. HUZZAH! Requestion five!

I'm not a cookie person, but all your pics of these beautiful cookies just might convert me. :)

And though I might not write for cookies, I absolutely will write for extra-dark chocolate.

thanks for the cheer of encouragement and yummilicious cookies!

Since I'm home with a sick child today, we might have to make those cookies now. {stomach grumbles}

Hooray for courage cookies! :) Have a great weekend. :)

Deana-- I'm glad you loved Divergent! And I almost choked when you said "I had no idea they did that." Um... It's just us, making it up as we go along. Nothing official at all. :) Glad you decided to join us!

Faith-- I thought so, too!

Cynthia-- These are definitely stare-worthy cookies! I keep finding myself just staring. Read Mom Kitchen totally rocks.

Iain-- I guess so. Maybe you should talk them into finding the courage to start, just so you can have a writing buddy!

Tonja-- Congrats on being almost ready to have her read it! That sounds like a huge step.

JeffO-- Yep. Definitely have the guts. Have a cookie to congratulate yourself!

Eve.E-- I think everyone does! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope you have a fabulous weekend, too.

Paul-- Oh, definitely about determination, too. And a dozen other things. But a lack of courage might just stop you from getting to all those other things! Good thing we all have bucket-loads of courage, isn't it? :)

Kelley-- Ooo! Nice! Run and get some!

Abby-- Isn't it just?

Bea-- :) That makes me happy.

Erin-- That's always my aim. To kill you. ;)

Kristine-- Hahaha! You should've! I keep wanting to stick my finger in the warm chocolate.

Julianna-- I think you hit the nail on the head- "We often underestimate our own greatness." So true.

Angela-- Beginning IS hard. Not that the rest is easy or anything. :)

Jenny-- I think I am always dying for a cookie. Best of luck scrounging one up for lunch!

Kristy-- Thanks! And you're welcome! Congrats on requestion #5! So happy for you!

Karen-- WHAT?! Not a cookie person?! What if they had extra dark chocolate chips in them?

Tara-- You're welcome!

Chantele-- I have a theory that says cookies ARE good for the diet. If you eat something so satisfying, then you aren't scrounging for something to eat! Or at least that's my theory. Have you heard that Veronica Roth might come to Utah? That'd be awesome.

Joshua-- Do it. Cookies help cure sick kids. At least that's my theory. :)

Carrie-- Hooray! I hope you have a FABULOUS one yourself!

Did someone say cookies?

Thanks for stopping by my blog; I'm a new follower of yours.
I love your blog design. It's very eyecatching and vibrant!

Considering the amount of flak us writers can get sometimes (especially if we write sci fi/fantasy!) we are definitely very brave to begin! Great quote.

Christa Desir said...

Please tell me you can't actually make that cookie. My creativity is limited to writing. I'm a soup and sandwich sort of cook.

Great quote. :)

You may be right. Love the quote. And those cookies look awesome - it's possible I'm drooling just a tiny bit right now :)

Lindi said...

I love cookies--they're my fav dessert. I think it's because my Grandma used to make then all the time. Of course I can't bake--but I do write---You have to be a 'tough cookie' to follow through. Sorry for the bad cliche!!
Thanks for the great cookie picture-now I want one. ;0

Kelly-- Welcome!! And thank you!

Lan-- Haha! So true.

Christa-- I did NOT actually make those cookies (see photo credit), but I can make a mean cookie. (And I quite often do.)

TGE-- I thought so, too. :)

Susanna-- I've been drooling all weekend. :)

Lindi-- LOVE the cliche! I love cookies, too. I think it's because we used to make them ALL THE TIME growing up.

Elizabeth-- Welcome back! It's good to see you again!

E.D.-- No doubt. Even if it's just cookies. :)

Romance Reader-- Me, too!
