Five Things

Five random things that are exciting me right now:

1. The water here is REALLY TASTY. Straight out of the tap. I've lived by really good tasting water all my life, though, so it's not something that usually excites me. But this time of the year? Definitely does. The ground the water pipes go through gets all cold, so when you turn on the tap, it comes out tasting like a mountain stream. It's bliss, I tell you.

2. Flag football season is OVER! Now don't get me wrong. I love watching my daughter tear it up on the field each week in a league filled with only boys and all, but let's just say that it's a darn good thing that sports come in seasons. Especially since it overlapped with soccer season, and it's a 3 DAY A WEEK sport. Whew! Plus, now that there aren't five camp chairs claiwming my trunk, I can use it for groceries again.

3. The tree we planted in our front yard two years ago looks like this. And when I walk in and out of my house 57 times a day, I get to walk right past it.

4. Revising. Have I mentioned lately how much I love revising? Drafting is like framing a house and putting up the plywood. Revising is like turning that into a show home, with all the details finished and sparkling. Revising is a thing of beauty. Plus, I've had a blast doing it with a group of people! (See this post if you don't know what I'm talking about. And it's never too late to join in the loads of fun we're having!) Tara Tyler even made us this awesome button. How cool is she?

5. M.I.S. Haven. Because there's nothing that can possibly get you more excited to work on your WIP than committing to revise something different. :) Plus, without even realizing it, NaNoWriMoers send out writing vibes. Great job NaNoers! I'm feeling the waves of writing awesomeness hit me clear over here.

Amen about the water! I never made the connection to the weather, but it makes total sense! I love the changing leaves too--the colors make me happy!

love the randomness :)

I'm not anywhere near being ready for edits. but I can see how it would be fun.

I love that your daughter plays flag football! And I'm loving NaNoReviMo. It's keeping me motivated. :)

So cool your daughter played flag football, but I can see how it's nice to reclaim part of your vehicle for mundane things like groceries.

And sending more NaNoWriMo vibes. I'm NaNoing when I can and hope your revisions also go well.

Wow, our water in Vegas tastes like your leftovers and dead bodies left by the mob at Lake Mead.
But yes, much to be grateful for. Much. Much. Much. LB! :)

The best water I've ever tasted came from a drinking fountain at the barn I used to ride at growing up. It was well water, or so I was told, and it was ice cold and really sweet. Maybe it tasted so great because I'd usually just come in from riding for two hours in the Southern California summer heat and my mouth was full of dust, but it was deeelicious. :) Thanks for stirring up that memory!

That's so cool your daughter plays flag football. I was a soccer player. That's the sport that never ends :)

My son wants to play football so bad, but his dad won't let him. Oh well. He does soccer and I can't handle more than one sport at a time. I know what Jessie is talking about nasty water. Phoenix water is the same. Yay ReviMo!

LOL! Love this post and really loving your tree. I tried to plant one like that about 4 years ago and it died! Seriously - how do you kill a tree? Anyway - lots of good stuff here today! YAY!

I need to put the button on my blog still. It's awesome!

Yea for good drinking water! Revising has been tough for me lately - I'm waiting / working really hard to find the clarity!

I somehow missed that it was actually under way, but LOVE your NaNoRevMo button!!!

Angela-- There's nothing like really good tap water, that's for sure! We went on vacation once to a place where the water was AWFUL. It's not just about using bottled water, either. The water is nasty when you shower... dishes washed in it smell nasty...

Cristina-- It is a LOT of fun. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Not even that little voice in your head. :)

Katie-- I love that she does, too. Especially since football is my favorite sport to watch! NaNoReviMo definitely helps me, too!

Angela-- This was her fourth year, and she has loved it! Aha! So YOU'RE the one sending all the writing vibes my way, making me want to draft!

Jessie-- Yes. We have a saying here. "Flush twice. It's a long way to Vegas." ;) And look at you with all your cryptic initials. Much, much.

Mara-- You just made me crave a drinking fountain by a barn in southern California. Sounds amazing!

Kelley-- Wait, what? Soccer never ends?! Dang it! Football is her SECOND favorite sport. Soccer is her FIRST favorite. Thankfully we haven't gotten to the never ending part yet... but that's on my horizon?

Jenny-- I don't think I'd let my daughter play tackle football, either. I love flag football! You get all the fun of the sport without the injuries! It does overlap with soccer, though, and that's a huge pain. And just know that I felt a little stab of pain in my heart for you and your nasty water.

Tara-- What? Misleading? It IS fun! Well, okay... there is the mind-numbing repetition part when you're going through doing sentence scrutiny. But the rest? Pure bliss. (Just keep telling yourself that. It'll be okay. ;))

Carrie-- Haha! Agreed.

Kristine-- You're higher into the foothills than me. Your water is probably EXTRA cold and tasty, isn't it?

Abby-- It's WAY easy to kill a tree. The secret to not? Water. Water, water, water. SO MUCH MORE water than your grass needs. Seriously-- water tons.

Janet-- Me, too! It is awesome.

Alexis-- Best of luck with it! There's nothing quite like finding the clarity.

Susanna-- It IS underway! Did you decide to join us? It's not too late!

love all of these! I agree - much prefer revising to drafting! I'm almost done a draft and can't wait to get down to revision. I hear you about the water. When I worked in Quetico, I drank water straight out of the lakes, and certain lakes tasted soooo good. It's nice you have that right in your home! And that's a lovely tree!
