Quotes and Cookies: Be a Pest

"I think I'd like to be remembered as someone who beat the odds through just plain determination... that I persevered. Because I think that being somewhat of a pest to life, constantly plaguing and pursuing, will bring results."

~Sylvester Stallone
As one of the kings of beating the odds through determination and perseverance, I'd say he's not wrong! Especially when it comes to writing. There is so much to do, so much to learn, so much experience that needs to be gained--- the only way we are going to get there is by being a pest to life. To stay constantly at it. So who's with me? Let's go side with Sly!

Because snow is falling where I'm at and I was still wearing shorts and flip flops just yesterday, making it feel like we MISSED FALL ALTOGETHER, here's the next best thing to fall: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies.

A.k.a. The Best Cookies Ever.

Happy Friday! I hope you are all enjoying whatever season it is where you live.

With the rain and crisp wind, it definitely feels like autumn here in England.

Again, you look so beautiful from across the room. Light shining on your face from the glistening snow falling outside of the window. Yes, I am your creepy stalker, blog talking to you when you are sitting two feet away from me at our little writing conference (when we are supposed to be socializing...we are blogging:).

Ack! Snow? It's 74°F in Ohio. I think I'll stay here. :|

Those cookies look awesome! Have a great weekend! :)

Pumpkin Choc cookies really are... quite possibly... the best cookies ever. They truly are this time of year - that's for sure!

Now how am I supposed to write when all I want to do is bake pumpkin chocolate chip cookies?

My wife makes pumpkin bread. Delicious.

I'm so jealous that you're getting snow. We don't get that except high up in the mountains in Australia. I feel like I'm being a pest to everyone around me already with my constant book chatter!

I just bought milk chocolate chips so I can make these cookies. This is how I plan to spend my Sunday afternoon.
Great quote!

Snow? Seriously? Eek!

I really want a cookie. :)

I'm siding with Sly too! And Peggy, it IS esp. true when it comes to writing. Seriously, writing takes all the determination you have, eats it up (like cookies) and then asks for more. Persistence is key, and I hope to prove the point myself one day. :) BTW, I loved seeing you at the conference. Hopefully there's a writing retreat in our future.

Seems you were ripped off to have winter ushered in so swiftly! I think that for a piece of writing to work we have to be determined; not only to fashion it in to the shape of the ideal in our head but also to run with the new ideas or structure that arrises from the work as we write.

Mmm... I made "backwards" chocolate chip cookies, with chocolate batter and white chocolate chips...but they did make me feel like I was skipping and fall and going right to Christmas. And then it was 80 degrees yesterday. I'm very confused... :) I'll have to make something with pumpkin to re-settle myself season-wise!

Isis-- I'm convinced we're going to get an autumn here, too. Just as soon as it kicks winter back where it belongs. :)

Leigh Ann-- Oh. My. Goodness. I would swap with that ANYTIME. Seriously.

Jenniefire-- I agree! And I LOVE your screen name. :)

Prerna-- They go pretty fast at our house, too! My kids figure that since they're made with a vegetable, they can have them with every meal.

Tara-- My favorite, too. And you're welcome! :)

Kristine-- That's my diabolical goal. ;) The quote is one that I love, too.

Jessie-- Snort. And hey! Blogging IS socializing! Even if you are leaving a comment on the blog of the person sitting two feet away from you. :)

Carrie-- The 74 sounds MUCH better than the high thirties we were just in. Maybe I should've gone to Ohio instead! I hope you had a great weekend, too!

Shilpa-- I know, right? Happy weekend to you, too!

Iain-- Are you referring to the quote or the cookies? If it's the quote, then I totally understand. I think a part of every writer writes so that we'll be remembered. If it's referring to the cookies... Sorry. Pumpkin cookies go lightning quick here. :)

Abby-- I agree! But for every day of the year, really.

Erin-- Yes you are. ;) Yes you do. Thanks! And not going to happen.

Pamela-- Okay, here's the trick. You make the pumpkin chocolate chips early, then eat them all day WHILE you are writing. They are proven* to increase your progress and creative energy by 37%. (*This may not be scientifically-proven results.)

Richard-- Mmmm. I LOVE pumpkin bread! It's one of my very favorites!

Lan-- Aw. Dang! Everyone needs a little snow sometimes! And I think book chatter can't be considered pest-worthy.

E.R.-- Yay! Cookies are best on a Sunday, too. I'm excited for you!

Talli-- Seriously. And me, too. :)

Kimberly-- Haha! LOVED the way you explained it! It was awesome to see you again! We definitely should do a writing retreat.

Paul-- Oh, I'm sure it's not here to stay. We'll get our fall eventually. :) And you're right-- every part of writing takes so much determination!

Faith-- Haha! Yes, make pumpkin something. It'll get you back into October!
