Wanna NaNoReviMo with me?

Last year, a bunch of us who were all revising got together for something we liked to call NaNoReviMo. I've got to tell you-- it was AWESOME to have so much support and encouragement. Not to mention how much more fun it is to revise with others!

Since it was such a great success before, we've decided to do it again. The lovely Jessie Humphries is spearheading it this time. Head over to her blog, The B-Word and let her know if you want to join! (Or leave me a comment letting me know, and I'll pass the word along.)

If you join, what will you get? Well, along with a manuscript so shiny you'll barely be able to look at it, you'll get the choice of displaying one or more of these fabulous buttons.

Sounds fabulous, no? Makes you want to join, doesn't it? I highly recommend it!

And now to make my goals for the month public, thereby making them more likely to happen. (That's the way it works, right?)
  1. I'm somewhere in the last 10,000 words of drafting book two. My goal is to finish before this week is over, NaNo style.
  2. Make it shine, before my December first deadline to my agent, and not go insane doing it.
There. Nice and simple. ;)

Head on over to Jessie Humphries's blog and let her know if you want to join us! You can email her at jachumphries (at) gmail (dot) com if you'd rather.

What are your goals this month?

You're like the sanest person I know (virtually). You're gonna kick your goals in the butt, as always :)

My goal is to work on this beast of a manuscript!

I know, I know...

It's not technically revision, but it's close enough. Besides, you can’t get rid of me. I have NaNoRevMo tenure! *grins*

Good luck with your goals!

I'm going to hop over to her blog and join you all. I was going to make it my goal anyway-- my version of the NaNo-- I need to quit stalling and dragging my tootsies on my MS and get it revised. Who knew I could get a button out of the deal too?!

Ah, this is exactly what I need!
I've never done NaNo before, as I've always had something in revisions at the time. So yay! I can play too!

Umm, I can barely look at my manuscript now, but it has nothing to do with it being so shiny! Arg, get a better attitude Jessie! It's just that I remember the days when I could write for three hours straight and still want more time. WIth revising, I stare at my agents notes for 10 minutes and feel like I'm done! And honestly, caffeine is not going to do the trick! Only my ReviMo peeps are!

Those buttons are pretty spiffy. How am I supposed to choose just one?

My goal is to outline a new project and not let the rejections in my inbox weigh on me so much that I lose confidence in my writing. Both are a lot harder than they sound.
Can I have a cookie? :-)

I have to think of my revisions as rewrites or I'm with Jessie - it's torturous!

Awesome goals! You can totally do this!

Awesome goals Peggy. I don't know why I didn't know about this before, but I'll have to remember for next year.

Best of luck with the edits...:)

I really like the "insane" part. :) Good luck Peggy! You can totally do it. Yay for NaNoReviMo!

Love it, I am heading over to Jessie's blog to join. Good luck with your edits :)

This is a great idea! Actually I guess you could say my NaNo project this year fits in with this, as it's a rewrite. Not really a revision but still, redoing something old! :)

yes, its fab all right! thanks again, peggy!

I'm heading over. I'm in the middle of revising and it's been a tough go.

I'm heading over to Jessie's blog, too. I need to quit stalling and finish revising my WiP! :)

Great goals. So glad we're doing this again!

Wishing you (and the others) loads of productive success! Maybe I should have a NaNoPloMo (for plotting) since that's where I am in the process right now. :-)

Good luck finishing and shining! You can do it :) And I've heard tell that cookies are good for maintaining sanity :)

I think that NanoReviMo sounds like a great idea; it's nice that writers are helping and encouraging each other like that. I wish I could participate, but I can't even do NanoWriMo because I'm swamped right now. But good luck on the whole process! Revision's always tough for me, because I want to keep (almost) everything and not cut any of it; on the other hand, I know that I have to cut a lot of it, sighhhh....

Good luck with your goals. I'm sure you can do it and that your novel with be awesome! I'm NaNoing the traditional way this month. But it seems like no matter which approach we take, it's going to be a crazy month!

I dropped in from Tyler's blog. Sounds like an awesome idea. Going over to Jessie's blog.

Oooh, I've already joined NaNo, but this sounds like more fun. Hmmm. What to do, what to do!

Caryn Caldwell said...

Wow! Those are some huge goals, but I have no doubt you can meet them. Good luck!

And what a great idea to have a group doing revisions this month. I somehow always end up revising in November, so I'll be in the same boat as the rest of you. I'm on my first revisions, and the back end of the book is a bit of a mess, so my goal is to average one scene every two days. I'm a little over halfway done already, so I should be nearly finished by the end of November.

And now that I write that, it makes me think I should be revising instead of relaxing and reading blog posts! :-)

You are guys are awesome and I wish you the best of luck! Great buttons too! WHOOT! Next year I'll be ready for this! I'll totally be ready to "revi-mo!"

Good Luck on your goals.

I don't have goals set for this month, but I do for the rest of the year. I need to finish the first draft of my current WIP by the end of the year.

Nicole said...

This is great! I'm definitely in a "revise the current and plot the next" mode more than a "write the next" mode this month. :)

This is a great alternative to drafting! Too bad I'm drafting, haha! Happy nanorevmo!
